HOW WE FIGHT YOUR CASE

Most companies rely on you giving up. We make sure you don't have to.

Here's exactly what happens when you raise a dispute with Small Debts.

Step 1: Submit Your Case

Fill in our dispute form with the details of your complaint — what happened, who's responsible, and what you want back. Attach any relevant documents: emails, contracts, invoices, photos. The more detail you give us, the stronger your case.

Step 2: We Review and Write

We review everything you've sent and draft a formal, legally worded letter to the company on your behalf. It references the applicable UK legislation, sets out the facts clearly, and gives the company 14 days to respond. Your £300 flat fee covers up to six letters or emails. In most cases, that's more than enough.

Step 3: They Either Pay — or We Escalate

Most disputes resolve here. If the company ignores us or refuses to engage after six letters, you have the option to continue for a further £100 — unlimited correspondence until the dispute is resolved.

Step 4: Small Claims Court (If Needed)

If correspondence alone doesn't work, we prepare and file your claim via the HMCTS Money Claims Online portal on your behalf. We charge £300 for this. You review everything and press submit yourself — you stay in control.

Step 5: Mediation

If the court refers your case to mediation, we act as your McKenzie Friend — supporting you through the process for a further £100. If you win compensation at mediation, we take 10% of whatever is recovered.
